Mum in emotional appeal to find missing son, 26, saying her ‘heart is breaking’

A mum whose “heart is breaking” after the disappearance of her 26-year son last week has pleaded with him to “please come home”.

John Winterton was last seen on Wednesday morning at around 3am on Sale Road, Wyhtenshawe, south Manchester.

The 26-year-old is described as a white male, between 5ft 8 to 6ft tall, with a medium build and short brown hair. He also has two tattoos – one of a clock and a rose on his left forearm and the other of a tiger on his upper left arm.

He was last seen wearing khaki green work trousers with a rip on the right leg, a pair of dark brown Stanley work boots, a white t-shirt with a written design, a navy blue hoodless jacket and a black cap, Manchester Evening News reports.

Mum Debbie, who “hasn’t slept” since he went missing, hopes her boy may have travelled to Anglesey to her caravan that he “loved to visit”, a family friend wrote on Facebook.

In a direct emotional plea to John, Debbie begged her son to contact the family to let them know he is safe.

“John if you’re reading this then please come home. My heart is breaking,” she said.

“When you’re back home, I promise I’ll take you to the caravan in Anglesey, you can spend as long as you want there, you can teach me how to fish and we can spend some time together.

“Even if you don’t want to come home right now then that’s OK, but please, just get in contact with someone to let us know you’re OK. We all love and miss you son.

“If anyone reading this knows of any information that might help us find our John, please get in touch. Anything, however small, might lead us to getting our boy back safe. We just need our son, brother and uncle home.

“If you know anything at all, please contact the police. “

A family friend previously explained Debbie, who “hasn’t slept” since he went missing, is hoping he made his way to Anglesey, where his mum has a caravan that he “loves” to visit.

The friend’s post written on an Anglesey Facebook group, reads: “John has gone missing from Northern Moor, Manchester. He is my neighbour’s son.

“The police are looking for him but he has been gone since Wednesday 18th 3-7 am. His bank account hasn’t been touched, his phone is off and he has no money on him.

“His mum has a caravan at a farm between Llanfaethlu and Llanfachraeth. North Wales police can’t help us until GMP ask them specifically to look for him.

“He may potentially walk down the A5025 from Valley towards Llanfachraeth.

“His mum hasn’t slept since Wednesday and is in bits. We have looked everywhere and there have been no sightings, no CCTV footage and no activity on his phone with location pings from masts.

“It’s a long shot but I’m hoping he has made his way to Anglesey as he loves coming to Wales for a break. Please share and help us find John.”

The statements came after officers said they were becoming increasingly concerned for John’s safety, and want to make sure he is safe and well.

Greater Manchester Police said in a statement: “Can you help police find a missing man from the Wythenshawe area?

“John Winterton, 26, was last seen about 3 am on Wednesday 18 August on Sale Road.

“Officers are becoming increasingly concerned for John and want to make sure he is safe and well.
